Aurora Chaser Tour
One of our most popular tours, the Aurora Chaser gets you out into the very best possible areas for viewing/photographing northern lights in the prime auroral zone (the area north of the Alaska Range) for the specific night of your tour. We consult our numerous contacts spread throughout the region, in addition to the latest local weather reports and aurora forecasts before we decide exactly where we will go for the best possible displays that night. In the unlikely event that inclement weather precludes the possibility of viewing and photographing the auroras within reasonable driving distance, we will cancel the tour and refund your money or credit you for another night’s tour.
On the Aurora Chaser, we pick you up at your Fairbanks area hotel between 9 and 10 PM and head north or east or south to the chosen viewing sites, stopping along the way to check out the night sky for aurora activity. When the auroras begin, you’ll get ample hands-on instruction from your professional-level experienced photographer /guide on how to best capture the phantasmagorical lights with your digital camera or phone in the challenging conditions of our winter nights. Fantastic views of the constellations, nebulae and meteors of our Milky Way in the deep darkness of Alaska’s night sky are a bonus. We typically stay out quite late on tour to best capture the more vivid early morning displays, returning you to your hotel usually from 3-4 AM*.
Cost: $125/person**
* This can vary depending on conditions and aurora activity and can be later.
** Two person minimum required for tour; we’ll fit you in to a group if we already have the minimum for that night. Slight additional charges apply for online booking.
**Please contact us before booking for the latest updates on weather, availability and other factors that may pertain to the tour dates you desire.
