Chena Hot Springs/Aurora Tour

Enjoy a visit to world famous Chena Hot Springs, with an evening of spectacular aurora viewing afterwards on this most popular Chena Hot Springs/Aurora tour! We’ll pick you up at your Fairbanks area hotel in late afternoon (4-5 PM), and then take a leisurely drive 60 miles north and east of Fairbanks through a thickly wooded valley, where moose are frequently seen by the road, to arrive at the resort. You’ll go on a guided tour of the fabulous Ice Museum soon after you arrive, where you can see phenomenal works of ice art carved by master sculptors and have a drink at the novel Ice Bar. Afterwards, you can break for a scrumptious dinner at the resort’s fine restaurant or go for a soothing dip in the world famous hot springs.

In the evening, after all our guests have eaten and visited the thermal pools, we’ll meet in the Activity Center to get serious about viewing and photographing the area’s well-known auroras. The resort’s location far from the lights of Fairbanks make it perfect for prime viewing, and they have a special area set aside behind the resort for this activity (in addition to a heated aurorium a short hike above the valley). But should the weather or other factors necessitate, we will drive to other locations along the road for better viewing. As on our Aurora Chaser tour, you will get expert, hands-on instruction on photographing the auroras with digital cameras. Depending on the aurora display that night, we will be returning you to your hotel usually between the hours of 1 and 2 AM.*
